WELCOME TO ST. THOMAS PREP!
As Catholic Christians, we know, "No matter who you are, no matter how you feel, no matter what people do, no matter what happens, no matter where you are TRUST GOD!" With God all things are possible. Mark 10:27
Every week, young and old gather at Mass to worship God because we, the baptized, are the Church. We are the community of the followers of Jesus, who are called through Baptism, to continue Christ's work. We urge you to set a positive example by bringing your children to Sunday Mass every week.
On November 27, 2011, the First Sunday in Advent, Catholics in the United States began using a revised translation of Mass prayers and responses. The Roman Missal, the source of the prayers is in its third edition.
Not all the words or phrases of the Mass prayers have changed. Most of the changes affect what we hear more than what we say. Other changes, such as the words in the Gloria and the Creed, which we pray aloud, are new.
The key issue to remember is, the revised translation is much closer to the Latin text. It shows more clearly that the traditional words we use for prayer have their roots in Scripture.
The hope and prayer of translators is that the new Roman Missal, will help all of us to pray at our best. To pray the liturgy well will take work, for priests and for us, the faithful. For all gathered at Mass, we will be attuned to God's presence and be able to express ourselves in a way that fosters a relationship with the Lord. Isn't that why we go to Mass?
